I was on YouTube the other night going through my playlists and I came across one I made last summer. While very short, this playlist contains videos about photography that I found helpful during the ongoing process of becoming a photographer. One video I found to be extremely helpful is Tonyisgaming’s video on what lens you should buy. He explains what each lens is best used for and gives example shots. Before watching this video, I wanted to go out and purchase every lens on the market when I have the money to do so. But after watching a few times, I realize that I may not need as many lenses as I think I may need. For example, I might need a 70-200mm when I have to be far away from the subject while shooting sports or portraits, but I don’t think I’ll need to buy anything larger than that. If my personal style of photography changes over the years, I can refer back to this video to figure out what to buy next.
You can check out my playlist here. I’ll be adding more to it in the near future.
